When a medical event revealed deeper health concerns for a beloved family member, it uncovered just how difficult navigating care, systems, and support can be. With complex medical needs, memory decline, and emotional strain all unfolding at once, the path forward was not simple. At the same time, other family members were facing their own challenges — loneliness, loss, and the daunting task of downsizing and adjusting after COVID.

 

Throughout this is also the pressure that families face when trying to make the right decisions — often while balancing work, children, and the weight of responsibility. There were moments of compassion, but also times when the system felt rushed or impersonal. It became clear how vital advocacy, empathy, and organisation are when loved ones are most vulnerable.
